June 10 What Western Countries Can Do Now.This year, especially because I am living in England from last year, the conflicts between western countries and China on culture aspect, political area, economic issue, polulation misunderstanding and even food pricing disagreement. Culture shock is supposed to hit me after 3 months of my arrival, but I overcame it easily just as I did to time difference. Never knew that it would gather its soldiers and lurk undermining my should-be-comfortable life inevitably. Ignoring all of these things would be any more possible and easier for me if I really want to--just forget about all of them, instead, focus on my studies, my private life, my health, never communicate with foreigners including those Chinese who want to discuss such kind of topics with me( except my tutors of course), clothe me with 10 layers of dressing, but how can I or should I hide myself being afraid of being hurt by the ridiculous reality? I am not so insensitive or impersonal enough to resist the environment from being influenced by its impacts.
I used to say to some one recently that, while animals tend to pass their meaning of life by increasing the percentage their gene have within their own species, human kind approaches this by affecting, brain-washing and assimilating others on language, clothing, behaviours, culture and cultimately concepts. Before we understand or discern or believe generally or completely whether there is a highest absolute standard existing, what makes us meaningful and comfortable is of course our own culture or belief.
Besides the tortured report about the Tibet Protest and against Olympic Torch Relay, is the unreasonable criticism of the situation of China towards the increasing food price. I couldn't find the original news from AFP which was published on 4th June at the moment, but I will update it once my friend who is in France finds it for me. One of the ideas the author addressed why the food price is soaring is because the food demand of Chinese is too huge that it gives great potential for the room in which the food price can tolerate. So the one-child policy is right then?
Some people or many people blame China for not reinforcing the hindering of environment pollution, but unwilling to share modern technics with China. We are fallen behind in scientific aspect and public awareness due to the exploitation and plundering of imperialism. If you are not going to repay us, we won't have the responsibility to force ourselves to catch up with advanced skilled with sacrificing the basic needs of our citizens.
Back to my topic--what western countries can do? Perhaps you don't need to do if you like. But since you always see China as a menace for China looks to be developing pretty well. Then why you rebuke it? If it really has so many disadvantages, then just leave it, it will not become a threat to the world, just discriminate it as a very poor country in Africa or a remote island country in the Pacific Ocean. But since you have taken China as a thing, then why not self-exam yourself, take the responsibility that is credited to you, and please do do what you need to do. Do help China dealing with environmental issues, for China remains so poor and with inferior technology partly due to the plunder of western countries and their oppression. If you don't share or help us with more advanced skills, why we have to focus on environment rather than feeding the basic needs of such large amount of poor people? If this causes catastrophic results, then none of us can bear the responsibility. I know it is very hard, but I will, too, try to love western people, forget( I dare not say forgive for I don't have the authority though I suppose I have the right because of the lives of my ancestors) about our past, love each other just as God loves us! Further, I don't want to be saddened by culture shock any more. Whether observe it, adapt to it, circle myself with a bubble, resist it, against it and be sarcastic towards it, cynical to the whole world even your life, I can sort it out, cannot be any better to love it and enjoy it, for it is my choice eventually.
